72 hours is pretty generous, I would say. I expect at least an acknowledgement in 48 hours as a general rule. There are a couple of pubs that I like and where I know they are sometimes busy IRL and not able to be there the whole time for editing duties, and I'll be more patient. Only if it's a boosting pub, mind, where there is a genuine potential benefit for me in hanging on the line.

Otherwise there are always prompter alternatives. Smillew and Grandma S. never keep anyone waiting anything like 48 hours.

A pub's follower network also seems to do very little to increase distribution. Self-pubbing and releasing via a 15k follower count pub seem to end up with more or less the same effect.

With the possible exception, in my anecdotal experience, of All About M, perhaps because stuff here is by definition not eligible for general distribution, and so it seems actually to benefit from the pub's niche followers. That's just a theory, however, which like any theory as to Medium distribution, is largely worthless.
