A behemoth far more worth sticking with than Ulysses, in my opinion.

It's hard to imagine either Neal Stephenson's Cryptonomicon or Jonathan Meades' Pompey having been written the way they were without it.

You could chuck those two in the mix as well for a bumper banana breakfast.
