A lot of ex- or current journos seem to have a troubled relationship with medium for this reason.

I think it's fair enough that this platform - and its readers - should aim for something other than journalism, for writing with human warmth. But it must be frustrating for writing pros to see stuff being boosted or going viral when it's not 'properly' written.

I fully agree about all of us having a 'sharing' point with which we feel comfortable. Unfortunately, Medium curators and readers seem to want to see more flesh than many of us wish to show, and there are legions of writers who are only to eager to oblige.
