According to anecdote, Queen Victoria loved the Alice books and insisted she be brought all the author's works. Her servants, fearing the Red Queen's royal wrath, did their research and brought her a full collection of Charles Dodgson's publications, all the rest of which were the Oxford don's bonedust-dry treatises on mathematical theory.

She was not amused.
