Add Jerusalem artichokes to the list. Topinambours is a magnificent name! Plus there's the fun fact that they have nothing to do with Jerusalem at all, but get their name in English from the Italian 'girasole', as they are the root of a type of sunflower.

But they don't taste like mashed potatoes.

A nice addition, though, for that smokey flavour.

Cauliflower is also supposed to hold the key to eternal life as a lo-cal, gluten-free pizza base. Yeah, right...
