Although much derided by Brits these days for its beer and straw donkeys tackiness, Torremolinos has a fascinating history as a resort, popular back in the day with Salvador Dalí, Frank Sinatra, Marlon Brando, Brigitte Bardot and other famous names of international cachet. As well as having a pioneering gay scene in the 60s while Franco's Fascisto-Catholic dictatorship was still in its evil pomp. Far more to Torremolinos than meets the eye.
