Am I the only one troubled by this 'Medium is the new TikTok for sharing vapid crap' phenomenon?
I guess there's room for everyone, but given the evident inadequacies of the Medium distribution algorithm, having stuff like this generate such huge volumes of traffic surely runs the risk of pushing 'proper' Medium content aside.
Yeah, sure, I'm being the entitled middle-aged gatekeeper and should shut the f*** up.
But don't TikTokky people already have their own silly little playground, namely TikTok?
I'm really not sure - given the grumblings of discontent I hear (and sometimes make) - about Medium's current model, that championing this 'new generation of user who engage with content in a different way' is doing the platform any favours in maintaining its loyal user base.
Maybe that's the idea.
