And it was great the way it was. What was the point of 1, 2, 3, 7, 8 and 9? Did any kid born in the respective decades cherish them the way we did back in the 70s and 80s? Did any of our generation ever go beyond 'grudging acceptance' for even the best (least worst) of them?
I quite liked Rogue One. A derivative but nicely made reboot that trod on no toes. My son thought it was fine. Not magical, nor inspiring. It was never going to be. The Star Warsverse cannot compete for eyeball-space today, for theatrical and cross-cultural impact and relevance.
The Mandalorian seems to have done a good job of retooling the world for a modern format. Without entirely debasing it.
But the movie trilogy should have been left as it was.
Kids these days? They don't got the Force.
