Another of the failings of the system - the nomming relies on the communication systems and practices established internally at publications. Does Nommer-in-Chief actively ask editors to flag up suggestions? Does that system work in practice? Or is it down to eeny-meeny-minie-moe as to whether nommer publishes you work, or any of half a dozen editors at a large pub.

This makes small pubs with nomming rights preferible in my opinion.

After all, nomming pubs are still amateur, voluntary outfits. We can't expect them to have rigorous protocols in place to ensure balance and coverage. Nor can Medium - this is a pitfall of outsourcing any service. Your reputation and efficiency live or die by the dedication and methods of your subcontractors.

And there are no SLAs or KPIs in place here - just a general pep talk, a fist-bump, and then hit and hope.
