Apparently the UK service still exists if you dial 123. It was affectionately known as 'Tim'. Short for 'time', I guess. No weather info, though.

Our phone was the exact same modelas in the photo, next to the front door, which is where my Mum still has the landline.

I can still feel the sprung resistance of the dial as you rotated it with your fingers, such a difference between a 1 and a 0. And the time and sound as it rolled back for the next number to be dialled.
