Ay! There's the rub! Plus there's this new 'Featured stories' thing that El Coacho announced yesterday. Which sounds good in theory, but may well be a damp squib. An extra four 'featured' ('mini-boosted'?) pieces per pub per month ain't gonna touch the sides, I fear.

It sounds right now like it will be a kind of repechage for few rejected noms, to give them a second chance.

My main concern is with that category: the pieces that aren't the crap that makes up 95% of content here, nor the 1% that get boosted (not actual figures, of course), nor the 1% that go viral but the 3% that are actually really good, are nommed or should be, but never get promoted for distribution, and so die a death.

Four 'Featured stories' per pub isn't going to do much in volume terms for all that writing.

A well-designed and safeguarded, user-activated 'recommend to my friends' button, however...
