Beautiful place - I would cheekily advise visitors with limited time to skip Madrid entirely and just use it as a hub to visit the far superior Segovia and Toledo - but bloody cold in the winter! I was actually going to use Segovia rather than Leon as my example of just how cold central Spain gets, but checked the stats and it wasn't quite as shocking as I'd thought. My father in law moved here from Cuba, which was always going to be a thermal shock, and spent his first winter in Segovia. The memory chilled him till the day he died!
Certainly if you don't mind that, and can stand being so far from the coast (a no-no for me), it's a great place. Maybe a little small to live in, rather than visit?
