Buster's update on AI policy yesterday, while welcome, seems to have triggered some distinctly naïve triumphalism in the comments there.

'Yay, Buster! You've fixed it!' seems to be a common attitude.

If only it were as simply as decreeing 'make it so' from the captain's chair.

It's good that at least both Terrie and Buster have - within a couple of days - set out certain information as to how Medium sees the problem, and its (shifting) attitude towards it.

But that is 1% of the job - the remaining 99% is the refinement of the practical model and its cat-and-mouse implementation.

Too much 'counting chickens' from many users in response to Buster, it seems. I hope management are more realistic about the implications of the whole phenomenon.
