Difficult times, Susie, and unlikely to get any easier, i fear. Between user-generated and AI content, I guess media channels are flooded with stuff they don't have to pay for, and that is deemed 'good enough' by enough of an ad-consuming audience.
My day job of translating is under pressure but holding out for now - Spain's antiquated, paper-based bureaucracy actually helps (for once!) by keeping the machines' grubby mitts off stuff they can't decipher. But it's only a matter of time before we're seriously undermined. Rates and volumes have already dropped.
I was hoping Medium might be a useful little side gig to smooth things out. Hmmm....
