Espadrilles are the ultimate chilling out, 'stop the world I wanna get off' footwear.

Enhanced by the fact that they will inevitably disintegrate over the course of a season, perhaps a year if you don't get them too wet - though in that case you're possibly not doing it right.

Like those carefree youthful interludes of living for the moment, they fall apart after a while, never to be repaired, and have to be swapped for a more practical but restrictive pair of shoes.
