Exactly. It's not that it's huge money, but for the effort required, it is. Scammers don't care, so long as the returns are proportionally worthwhile. The Mafia do protection and prostitution, but they also do construction and garbage collection - any pie is worth plundering if you can get an angle on it. The same people doing crypto and stock pump and dump or phishing attacks will also be creaming off what they can here. Why wouldn't they? That's their 'job'.
