The population seems consistently to split between the 10% who are genuinely financially secure and vote for that status quo out of self-interest, the 40% who are in truth constantly being screwed over and now finding they are less secure with every generation, who nonetheless support the status quo against their own interests, the 40% who think some changes need to be made by way of redistributive tinkering, and 10% who actually want a radical overhaul of the whole structure.
