I was aware when coming up with the concept and name that there is a slightly colonial tinge to it, although the use of those languages and influence of their culture and religion is an inevitable fact.
But it would be extremely interesting to hear perspectives from indigenous, pre-Colombian communities about their role in shaping the national cultures of Latin America. I think Mexico is an interesting example of that, having been more assertive even at federal government level in proclaiming the strength of those pre-colonial roots.
