I don't know. I could see a future in which Medium has three layers:
1) human-curated content at the top which will always dominate the feed of both regular and new users - essentially a massive online magazine of multiple subtopics, a kind of long-form Reddit.
2) Below that, all the non-boosted content, which will struggle even more than now to find an audience - essentially blogging into the void.
3) A mass of AI-generated crap which simply tries to hook in enough readers through catchy topics to generate a profit, and provides funding for layer 1.
Layer 2 will dwindle to just oddballs - all those who write well and seriously will make sure they get a seat in Layer 1, or will leave.
The question is, does Layer 3 provide enough funding to keep the whole thing going, or does Layer 1 sustain itself through the $5/month for a decent, semi-professional standard content buffet?
I suspect that's where the numbers game is ultimately played out.
