I don't know - officially they have no problem with it. But then they would say that, wouldn't they, so as to avoid a backlash?
As the boost approval procedure is entirely opaque - no reason is ever given for rejection - there is no way of knowing if it is a factor. But some nominators feel it seems to be a recurring pattern. It's hard, though, to see patterns in any process that involves multiple overlapping factors.
And it may come down to individuals. You can imagine a recovering addict being more reluctant to approve a story that speaks positively or neutrally of casual drug use, perhaps. And it's impossible to lay down hard and fast rules for what are subjective decisions.
I hope to get a clearer idea of what is going to be approved/rejected, and why, as I gain more experience of the process - it's early days yet.
