I don't wish to say 'Well, duh!', Sally, but, 'Well, duh!'
Medium management have continuously talked with a forked tongue. They say nothing. Or they immediately blame writers for their own mistakes. Or they contradict one another within days (3 different stories about earnings from Tony, Scott and Brittany - the senior staff of a message communication platform can't communicate a message! You couldn't make this shit up, and you don't have to, etc., etc.).
And when they release information, it's tucked away in the replies to one person's article, or in a private Slack group open only to a few.
Even if there were perfectly good reasons for all that has happened in the last 7-8 months. Even if they had correctly identified all the missteps in hindsight. Even if we could forgive them - following the relevant apology, and don't hold your breath there - for not having the basic common sense and managerial skills (for which they are handsomely paid, if recent job ads are to be believed) to have predicted these obvious flaws in advance, or responded promptly when users themselves in their droves pointed them out. And even if we believed they were capable of implementing the technical solutions to resolve them, despite the constant evidence to the contrary...
Even then there can be no refuting that they have time and again acted in bad faith, with contempt for those whose efforts give this platform its very purpose.
If they fix things sufficiently, Medium might become usable again. But it will never again be loved under this management team.
