I genuinely do think that the awkwardness of submitting to pubs that have boosted you is another psychological flaw in the whole system. You know they know why you're submitting that kind of material specifically to them. You feel like a cat rubbing up against their legs in the hope of a bowl of food. It's unhealthy. It's like being back at school, waiting to be picked for a part in the end of year play. It sucks.
