I have a random question for you, Nichola - what does a posh Australian sound like? A wealthy Melbourne socialite or a high court judge, say? Presumably they don't affect a 'king's English' type accent, but do they tend to try to water down their Strine, or just speak normally? As the rest of the world tends to like their Australian media figures to be down-to-earth and straight-talking, I can't think of any examples (Edna Everage aside, perhaps), that try to affect a fancily 'superior' mode of speech. Is there such a thing?
