I have an idea for a story, based loosely on Patrick Süskind's Perfume, with its protagonist who has no scent, and so is able to slip through society unnoticed.
It would be about someone who spends their life buying things, making online comments, visiting places they absolutely hate, just to create a completely false digital profile of themselves, and then be free of surveillance, as whatever they did as a 'real' person would be ignored by the analytical machines as an aberrant data point. It couldn't be them, because it didn't match their painstakingly curated profile.
But I don't know what it is they would actually want to be free to do in the end. Maybe that's the point in itself.
