I just did a quick check on thesituation here in Spain. The Congress of Deputies (equivalent of the US House) now has 44% women, up from 40% at the previous general election, and the Senate (fairly similar body to the US, but less important) has 40%.
The proportions may increase again at the next election (in 3 weeks' time), as many parties have alternating lists. The d'Hondt formula PR system used here means that each party has a list for each region, and if they get 7 seats, say, numbers 1-7 on their list are elected. The tendency now is to go M, F, M, F... Obviously this doesn't effectively cover the non-binary population, but is a good way to ensure M-F balance, and has proved very effective.
