I think perhaps, Maryan, that many of us would do well to be on both Medium and Substack for the different experiences and mechanisms they offer. That has been my plan for some time - it is above all a question of time, seeking out and fostering that engagement from scratch on one, having already gone through the whole process on the other.

Right now is perhaps the time to do that for me - Substack may well be my 2025 New Year's Resolution.

As Medium becomes increasingly overwhelmed with fakes (of various kinds), and loses its sense of meaning and vitality (though not for the gaggle of Panglossian Stockholm syndrome Kool-Aid drinkers), it begins to make more sense to me to make use of a few dozen more or less thematically coherent and polished pieces from here, and post them weekly on Substack for the next year.

I've been taking it slowly (and lazily and reluctantly) - I finally got round to linking my Stripe account and creating a name for my pub there (I think - I can't remember what it was), but them sighed and gave up again.

Another boost rejection today will probably now spur me to take the next step.
