Did you know that Sanrio, who own the hugely valuable Hello Kitty IP, are very protective of the products they license, and are paranoid about the idea of any HK-branded paraphernalia ending up in a violent and bloody incident in the media? So they refused the request to manufacture a branded Hello Kitty letter opener, because someone could have gone postal and stabbed people through the eyeballs in a homicidal mail room rampage.

But you can buy Hello Kitty dildos and vibrators.

There's something really reassuring and yet also disturbing about the reputational jeopardy analysis behind that corporate decision.

Must have been a fun day in the boardroom as they tried the products out.
