It was going to be a bit more serious, academic and philosophical, tailored to the Brain Labs pub style. But I can't help making little jokes and comic asides. I thought the editors over there might want that side toned down, plus numbered footnotes are such a pain.

So I went for a more raconteur approach and submitted it here. I have a follow-up piece planned on pruning roses and removing kelp from yacht hulls, which would have been included here, but it would have ended up too long, and been less topical.
