It's great to hear such a positive experience, Becca, and not just one chance encounter, but a real cultural pattern. Here in the south of Europe there are many social values that other countries have long since forgotten. When the northerners sneer at what they see as a 'lazy, casual' culture, it hurts - though in truth it hurts them more - because that slower pace of life, a refusal to see things as just business, efficiency, transactionality, is what makes the quality of life here so superior, in my view, having moved to Spain from Britain 20-odd years ago.
