It makes you wonder what global tourism would look like if such care were taken everywhere with regard to natural and social heritage, restricting visitor numbers and impacts.
A very different picture - more like the 19th century, but with less theft of artefacts by aristocrats from richer nations. And the privilege of the few. But with a better-preserved world.
The practical balance has to lie somewhere in the middle, I imagine.
