Music is reckoned to be a real help with math. I know there was an experimental scheme at a bunch of schools in the UK where they increased the amount of music tuition (hopefully done better than at my school...) while leaving math classes unchanged, and the average math scores went up.

One of my university friends was a talented pianist and also studied math - before becoming a lawyer after graduation.
