My instinct is to reject the idea. But I'm steeling/reconciling myself in advance, playing Devil's advocate a little.

Barcelona football club always used to have a shirt free of sponsorship, when every other club in Europe had long since plastered sundry brands across their players' kit.

'We're different,' they said.

They then acquired a sponsor - Unicef - but they paid Unicef to put the logo on the shirts.

'See, we're different,' they said.

That lasted a couple of seasons, before they took a few million from some Chinese video-on-demand company.

'Business is business,' they said.
