OK, so with a little help from Dr Wikipedia, here is my chronological selection of classic albums and standout tracks released in 1978. Including a few disco or disco-adjacent numbers that rinse the foul taste of the Bee Gees from the genre's mouth, in my opinion.

The taste for these was acquired later, as I was only 7 at the time, except for The Police, who I was precociously into, and Gerry Rafferty, who my Dad played a lot.

Gerry Rafferty - City to City - Baker Street

Kate Bush - The Kick Inside - The Man with the Child in His Eyes

Elvis Costello - This Year's Model - Pump It Up

Kraftwerk - The Man-Machine - The Model

Boney M - Nightflight to Venus - Rasputin

The Who - Who Are You - Who Are You

Tom Waits - Blue Valentine - Christmas Card from a Hooker in Minneapolis

Barry White - The Man - Just the Way You Are

Village People - Cruisin' - YMCA

Chaka Khan - Chaka - I'm Every Woman

The Police - Outlandos d'Amour - Can't Stand Losing You

The Jam - All Mod Cons - Down in the Tube Station at Midnight

Gloria Gaynor - Love Tracks - I Will Survive

Kenny Rogers - The Gambler - The Gambler

PiL - First Issue - Public Image
