Thanks, Brian. It really does seem to be a blind spot of the algorithm. I get the 'human-curated content to combat clickbait and AI' aspect of Medium's current distribution model. But it doesn't even seem to try to make smart use of the reams of data they have to let one piece's momentum feed into another.
Maybe they feel 'well if you want more, just follow the author'. But (a) that barely influences the 'For you' tab, and (b) it disregards the topics. I write about language, culture, music and politics. I write poetry and fiction. Any given reader need not be interested in all that. If they like my language article, push them the next one, and at least give them the chance to confirm/deny their interest, to make the data smarter.
