There are plenty of pubs that take a more laid-back and friendly approach to the whole game, such as The Pub by the same owners as All About M, and Philip Ogley's Pitfall. Those are just two whose vibe I particularly chime with, and would be my suggestion to get started and learn all the mechanics of submissions, private notes, scheduling, etc. And a way of entering their mutually supportive communities.
