Thanks, Wendy. I may try some time to put my fiction hat back on. I have rather more subscribers and followers than when I was writing short stories last year, so it may be worthwhile seeing if i get a little traction now. But the effort per word is far greater, I find, both emotional investment and time for far less reward in readership terms.

I tend to spread myself too thinly as it is, with writing, editing + day job, and fiction is the first to go if I'm short of time, and above all big, uninterrupted blocks of time. Which I almost always am.

That said, it's more satisfying in many ways. It feels more like a creation that I have brought into the world, however lacking it might be, rather than simply a glorified version of a theory I might have proclaimed down the pub, as with my non-fiction stuff.
