I take your points, but it's inevitably also true that of all the great articles here that could find their way onto the 'staff picks' list, only some will make it, just as many great musicians or artists never achieve the recognition they perhaps deserve because they weren't quite in the right place at the right time, or seen by the right person in the right frame of mind.
