The great realisation of my life - here in Spain, at least - is never again to buy a white car. Everyone has them (black, white and red are the cheapest colours as the standard options, and most people would rather look like a taxi driver than a funeral director or boy racer), meaning you have to wander round clicking the remote on your key fob, hoping that your faithful chariot will awaken and wink its orange eyes at you in recognition.
