There was quite a thing made of it when Musk marked NPR as 'state-funded media' (i.e. 'suspected propaganda, like Russia Today') on Twitter, because it receives some public money, and the liberal Internet jumped on him to point out just how much public money SpaceX has received - many, many times more.
