There's a feedback loop here, I think.
Nommer A noms Writer B, and the story is picked by Curation.
"Oh good," says Nommer A. "Writer B's stuff is pleasing to the gods. That will be a nice little earner."
"Oh good," says Writer A. "Nommer A likes my stuff - I'll keep sending stories to this pub."
I know that I feel that way as both writer and nommer, although in both capacities I am, of course, open to other inputs and outlets, respectively.
But many of us are time poor, and sometimes a tad lazy.
And anyway, that approach works - I have 4 or 5 small, nomming pubs where I send pretty much all my stuff, and Iberospherical writers who regularly submit stories in the same kind of area where they have been boosted before.
