They are already sowing the seeds of their own destruction, I feel, by (as techbro dickheads always do) fixating on growth, growth, growth at all costs.

TikTokers of the world (well, USA, but Substack, like Medium, doesn't seem to understand there's a difference), flood our platform with your silly little videos!

Today they are bragposting screenshots of phone showing Substack is the number 1 app download, ahead of X and other social media platforms, stroking their egos with one hand while stroking their something else with the other.

I see an MPP+77 v 2.0 in the making. Different kind of impact on platform quality and earnings potential, but probably a similar result in terms of user satisfaction.

Take Nobu and turn it into McD's.

I am actually wondering whether, in their imperial megalomania, the SS guys (they really should have gone for a different name if they didn't want to be seen as Nazi enablers...) aren't talking, as we speak, to Medium's owners about how to buy them up and migrate the user base.

Like viruses and tumors, it's how tech companies function. Grow, grow, grow, until you kill the host.
