This is an interesting point. My 'soundbite' thought in response to this piece was 'You can play Mozart to AI, and it will come back with bargain basement Salieri, but it could never come up with Schönberg or Cage'.
There is no capacity for innovation, for deliberate disruption of traditions, the desire and daring to explore a new, scary, unmapped forest, simply because it's there.
In this case the machine has done something unexpected, novel in a way, but not out of a sense of experimentation for a purpose - simply because it got its wires crossed, and accidentally mixed red with green instead of yellow when asked to make orange.
