This is great. I love stories that are triggered by other stories. And it is such a bizarre ritual. The entire world over the age of 6 or 8 or whenever it tends to be these days when realisation strikes, spending their whole time talking about how you have to keep the secret, pass on the 'curse', let's call it.

What are we trying to achieve?

It sometimes reminds me of those towns in the rural USA that all swear they were visited by aliens. Is it just to get on the telly? Or did something really horrific happen that they are trying to mythologise away to a communal, imaginary hurt locker with another name?
