True, we are by evolution hunter-gathering omnivores. But we are also bullies, killers and rapists (as well as altruistic social beings, artists, inventors and philosophers). We have developed a moral sense that allows us to go beyond those parts of our nature which we can see cause unnecessary harm to others, whether human, animal or ecosystemic. And I have come to the conclusion (just a few thousand years late, but hey...) that this is one aspect where we should do just that.
