Very useful account, Michele. I live in Spain, but the situation seems right now to be similar or worse. Fine in and around large cities, though chargers tend to be in groups of just two, but going cross-country, good luck to you.

We have the added factor that many people live in apartment blocks, or in our case an old house in a village, with no garage.

We will never be able to charge an EV at home, despite having solar panels.

I don't see the roll-out of charging as adequate yet, and don't think it will keep pace with EV take-up. Which is why we are thinking of a PHEV, despite the fact that the system does neither job efficiently. But we could generally be 100% electric for our commutes, and safe for longer distances.
