When I was in Galicia they had a white wine just sold as 'vino xove'/'vino joven' ('young wine') - a generic term, but it seemed to be more specifically used in Galicia for the new white wine from the less fancied region of Ribeiro, rather than the posher Rías Baixas.

Back in my day (late 90s), a bottle cost 100 pesetas at the supermarket (maybe 70 US cents at current exchange rates, a dollar allowing for inflation?), and was perfectly decent for midweek guzzling.

Well, that's what I would persuade myself part way into my second bottle, anyway.
