Whilst I agree, as always, that Musk has had a very positive, perhaps even decisive, impact in advancing the shift to greener transport and more dedicated battery research, I think you have to admit that he is very often a complete jerk, and he expresses that in the most public and antagonising manner possible, very often deliberately goading the more educated, liberal members of society whose buy-in is essential if the transition is to work, while pandering to reactionary and redneck forces.

All for shits and giggles, publicity, megalomania or swinging-dick, look-at-me narcissism.

Neither he, nor his supporters, can be surprised when that results in negative pushback and skepticism, which harms the broader movement.
