Yeah, it's not a good vibe. Reciprocity is a very important value of this platform to me. And that relies on equality. Having some people's presence 'worth' four times more because they have paid more money makes me feel a bit sick. I think I understand some of what they are trying to do (and avoid doing), but I think it's being done in a rather ugly and awkward manner.

Earnings evidence from yesterday suggests regular readers and writers will get our money back, and then some, so it won't cost anything in net terms to upgrade. I just dislike being bullied into it.

Nommers will also be favouring FOMs, because they want to attract more of them - and drive away the lower class - as that means more money for the articles on their pub, through the fairly well-respected principle of intrapub reciprocity, including their own and their friends'.

Today has been a slack traffic day - no new stories published - and I know what that would normally mean in terms of earnings. If i see tomorrow that in fact it's 2-3 times that, as some of the reads I have are FOMs, I guess I'll sign up to keep spreading that around.

But how long will it last? How long did August earnings last? The numbers still don't add up.

I had over $5 for one FOM reading, clapping, commenting on a boosted story yesterday - how can that work? That's half the extra 10 bucks just for me, on Day 1.

There would have to be a huge proportion of FOMs that are just readers for it to work out. But why would reaaders pay the extra? What do they get for tripling their entrance fee? The chance to share links. Right...
