Yeah, that was a real shocker, wasn't it? To find ourselves ideologically aligned with Morrissey once again.
Shit.
I mean, he has his own 'anti-cancel-culture' reasons for potentially using her memory in this way, and given the crap he's come out with in recent years, I don't think we can ever take what he says at face value and without some serious scepticism.
But his words about her and about the world do seem more meaningful than most others right now.
This shouldn't surprise us, perhaps. Shouldn't shock us. But it does. Maybe that's a good thing. Maybe life, people, need to keep jolting us out of what we thought we knew.
But I think I'd prefer not having my assumptions disrupted by Morrissey's previous pronouncements.
Or, more importantly, Sinéad's death.
