Yes, but it just seems like a huge misallocation of society's resources.
How many millions are paid each year to employ people in call centres to make cold calls trying to get people to switch from phone company/ISP/insurer A to B, and then back from B to A at the rival call centre across the road? Or probably the exact same call centre, contracted by company A on the morning shift, and company B on the afternoon shift.
How much more satisfied would those people be, and how much more productive a result for society could be achieved, if they were instead carving decorative elements for public buildings?
